The Horse Rescue Fund needs to provide not only for the equines we rescue and care for today but the ones who will need help in the future.

At the Horse Rescue Fund, we are only able to undertake the work we do through the continuing generosity of people like you by funding this vital work.

Without this ongoing support many equines would be left to suffer and would face an uncertain and bleak future.

We can and do help, but we need your thoughtfulness to do so now and in the years to come.

There are many ways you can support the work we do, one of which is to remember the Horse Rescue Fund in a legacy.

Legacies are absolutely vital to our work, making up more than half of our income. By leaving a gift in your will to the Horse Rescue Fund, you can be assured that you are making a lasting contribution that will continue to work long after your death and you will therefore be directly contributing to saving hundreds of equines and guaranteeing their future health and welfare.

If you can, please do take a moment now to consider remembering the Horse Rescue Fund in your will, either in the form of a gift or, as many of our supporters do, in the residue of your estate after all your loved ones have been provided for.

We always welcome the opportunity to discuss the work we do and to explain how your generosity can make a lasting difference to the lives of the hundreds of equines. Please do not hesitate to contact us should you wish to talk to us or would like to visit us at our Toft Monks headquarters.

There are several different types of legacy, which your solicitor or a suitably qualified professional will be able to advise you on fully when you write or add to your will in the form of a Codicil. If you already have a will there is no need to write another as a Codicil is a small amendment and can be included at any time.

The various types of legacies are;

Pecuniary Gift

When you want to leave a specific sum of money to us.

Residuary Gift

This is when you bequeath the residue from your estate after all other bequests and costs have been deducted.

Partial Residuary Gift

For example, specifying a gift of 5% of the value of your estate. This would mean that an estate of, say, £20,000 with a 5% bequest would provide a gift of £1000 to the Horse Rescue Fund. This is particularly beneficial as the value of your gift is not reduced by inflation.

A Gift

Another popular option is in the form if a gift, an item of value which could include land and property, paintings, antiques, jewellery for example.

Whatever we receive from Wills is used to support the Horse Rescue Fund’s work and any amount, however small, really does make an immediate and lasting difference.

Should you wish to include the Horse Rescue Fund in your will you will need to use certain legal wording:

For a Pecuniary Gift:

‘I give the sum of £ (or the item specified) to the Horse Rescue Fund, Woodstock Farm, Toft Monks, Beccles, Norfolk, NR34 0EH Registered Charity No. 275428, for its charitable purposes. I further direct that the receipt of the Honorary Treasurer or the proper officer of the Horse Rescue Fund for the time being shall be a full and sufficient discharge for the said legacy.’

For a Residuary Gift:

‘I give the residue of my estate to the Horse Rescue Fund, Woodstock Farm, Toft Monks, Beccles, Norfolk, NR34 0EH Registered Charity No. 275428, for its charitable purposes. I further direct that the receipt of the Honorary Treasurer or the proper officer of the Horse Rescue Fund for the time being shall be a full and sufficient discharge for the said legacy.’

For a Partial Residuary Gift:

‘I give (percentage or fraction) of my residuary estate to the Horse Rescue Fund, Woodstock farm, Toft Monks, Beccles, Norfolk.NR34 0EH, Registered Charity No.275428 for its charitable purposes. We appreciate your thoughtfulness.
